Dedicated to the memory of Billy McColl

This site is a tribute to Billy McColl, who was born in Dundee on September 27, 1956 and sadly left us too soon on July 10, 2023.

Billy was one of a kind, a great story teller and a wonderful and loyal friend to many. He was a loving father and grandfather, always full of fun and mischief!

Billy was a former DP World Tour member and a well known face in Scottish Golf. He celebrated his 40th year as a member of the PGA earlier this month.  Billy was a 14-year member of the European Tour and played in seven major championships, with his best finish coming as a T23 at the 1980 Open Championship. He also won the 1984 Ivory Coast Open on the Safari Circuit (now part of the European Challenge Tour).

Billy had a zest for life and enjoyed nothing more than cooking and chatting to his nearest and dearest over a bottle of red wine. He was a dedicated and passionate golfer who took great pleasure in helping others improve their game. Billy also enjoyed fishing and bird watching - he loved nature and being outdoors.

Billy leaves behind Susan and their three children, Aimee, Josh and Holly and two grandchildren, Olive and Sebby.

Please upload your photos and memories to help us celebrate and remember his wonderful life.

Thoughts

How will I remember Billy J McColl?… the last day on the couch. I had the pleasure of spending the last day of Billies life with him, on the couch at the flat, what an honor. We laughed, we chatted, we smiled and joked, we watched the golf and we solved all the worlds problems again. We ate his world famous chilli with his secret ingredient! He washed it down with his delightful and valued Claret. He chatted to all his family; Josh, Aimee and Holly. He listened to Steves 9 in the club championship and Matt qualifying for the open. How will I remember Billy J McColl? The man was a giant, he stood 5 ft 7 and a half tall! With size 7 feet, he knew how to hit the wee white ball. All the H’s, that was Billy McColl Honest Happy Helpful Hot head High standards Hard worker Honorable All the H’s, that was Billy McColl Like all of you I enjoyed being part of the life of Billy McColl. To hear all the stories and dreams he had about us all. Too many to name but he loved us all. Now that you are gone, your positive energy is with us all. We shall use it wisely to achieve our missions and goals. Hope the dreams are real vivid now….Billy J McColl Miss you lots my dear friend, Always a pleasure never a chore. Andy Strachan ❤️
